Causes of Hair Thinning or
Loss
Hair
loss is an embarrassing dilemma that has many causes.
The National Center of Trichology offers practical,
in-depth, medically-approved and completely individualized
approaches to preventing hair loss and rejuvenating
the scalp for new hair growth.
Although
genetic predisposition to hair loss affects both
men and women, some of the other common causes can
be:
-
high fever
- stress
- weight
loss
- surgery
- giving
birth
|
- hormonal
factors
- stopping
or changing oral contraceptives
- vitamin
and mineral deficiencies
- scalp
problems
- unhealthy
diet

Types
of Hair Loss
1.
Temporary. Childbirth, stress (which depletes
the body of vitamins, minerals and proteins that
is then lost through the urine in the form of nitrogen),
etc.
2.
Permanent Until Corrected. This is chronic
hair loss commonly due to hormonal imbalance,
sexually transmitted diseases, nutritional disorders,
toxicity (pesticide, chemotherapy, gases in the
air, rancid oils that we may ingest, etc.). May
interfere with nutrition with the glands or organs
that govern nutrition which also can cause hair
loss.
3.
Permanent. This is when the hair follicles
and scalp tissue have completely destroyed due
to inflammation or scarring diseases - e.g., Follicular
Degeneration Syndrome (forms of scarring alopecia)
and Androgenetic Alopecia (when the follicles
are completely destroyed). In this case, hair
transplant is often the best solution.
